“Es Castell” Defensive Tower

Also known as “Es Castell” (the Castle), this defensive tower is in the Sa Punta de n’Amer Natural Area of Special Interest, between Cala Millor and Sa Coma. It was built in the 17^th century to guard the coast between the neighbouring towers of Porto Cristo and Cap Roig and was part of the defensive system that surrounded Mallorca at a time when pirates often attacked the island to steal food and valuables and kidnap people. Museum open all year.
