Training courses for the tourism sector

The Son Servera and Sant Llorenç Tourism Consortium promotes Cala Millor as a safe holiday destination with training courses for the tourism sector

The intention is to offer a destination with officially approved health and safety standards and trained staff able to guarantee both their own safety and that of visitors

Beginning this June, the Son Servera and Sant Llorenç des Cardassar Tourism Consortium is offering training courses open to all those working in the tourism sector. The objective is to be able to offer visitors a safe destination and tourism establishments with the highest hygiene and health standards.

The courses will deal with hygiene and sanitary measures for personnel in the tourism sector and those responsible for managing public areas. The aim is to ensure that all those who interact with holidaymakers have the necessary training and knowledge to guarantee both their own safety and that of the visitor.

All the courses are free of charge. They will be fully funded by the Tourism Consortium and will be available to all those who request them.

They will include such areas as service specifications, cleaning and disinfection, maintenance, and risk management. The courses will be specifically designed for hotels and other tourist accommodation establishments; bars and restaurants; clothes, souvenir and food shops; leisure activity establishments and active tourism firms. A mobility and transport course will be held for taxi drivers and car and bicycle hire firms, as well as another for people working in public areas and heritage sites.

The objectives of the courses include reinforcing and consolidating knowledge of Covid-19 in terms of its chain of infection and prevention. The specific procedures that may be necessary in each concrete area of the establishment will be studied in order to become familiar with and correctly apply the different official Covid-19 health and hygiene guidelines and the specific preventative aspects established for each sector.

The courses will be held this June in the Sa Màniga Auditorium in different sessions divided into blocks. The objective is for all the establishments in both municipalities to be able, under the auspices of the Consortium, to obtain the Safe Tourism Certification promoted by the Ministry of Health and the Institute for Spanish Tourism Quality, both of which also support these courses.

Achieving the Safe Tourism Certified status will give the establishments an official safe destination guarantee that will allow them to stand out above other holiday destinations.

Courses can be signed up for online or by telephone. Places are limited. All the information can be found on the website. All the courses are expected to be completed by the end of June.
